The Gold Star 500 is a four-day, 500 mile, endurance bicycling event. The event's mission is to preserve the legacy of each Illinois Fallen Service Member. The final day of the ride coincides with Gold Star Family Day in the State of Illinois. The ride begins and ends in Springfield. OVES Students lined the sidewalk in front of the building with small American Flags to wave as the bikers came by. Several students were singing The Star Spangled Banner while they waited, after learning the song in music class.
