General Richard Kaiser and Colonel Sizemore from the Army Corps of Engineers visited OVHS this morning. Okaw Valley Schools have been in a cooperative agreement for the last 4 years with the Army Corps of Engineers working together to improve the areas around Lake Shelbyville. Students have spent time working at various projects around the lake. This agreement spurred the Ag department at the high school to plant crops on CORPS ground and has blossomed into an on-site Ag Complex at the high school. General Kaiser spoke to the high school student body thanking them for all of their contributions to the betterment of the area around Lake Shelbyville. He also encouraged everyone to get out there and do something and be a productive member of our nation. The General then proceeded to take a tour of all the facilities and grounds involved in the partnership. We were honored to host this visit and look forward to many more years of involvement with the Army CORPS of Engineers.
