PTO MINUTES
JANUARY 12TH, 2010
Meeting opened 7:13 pm.
Jennifer Bland read Treasurer’s report. Accepted by Tracy Ryherd and 2nd by Michelle Lybarger.
Minutes from December’s meeting were reviewed. Accepted by Connie Dotson and 2nd by Jerry Bobbett.
Jerry Bobbett suggested that for the PTO meetings that we such have a sign in sheet. This sheet would help the PTO with any future, if any, conflicts with persons not agreeing with decisions that have been made a during PTO meetings.
Mrs. Dotson has asked the PTO if we could purchase games for the OVIS. These games are needed during recess when the kids are kept inside due to weather. Jumbo connect 4 -$41.99, Jumbo checker mat- $16.99, get knotted (twister)- $72.99, unbreakable ping pong net and set- $32.99. These items are going to be purchased for the OVIS. PTO members will shop these items for the best price. Jerry Bobbett has expressed some concern about the “get knotted” game – students might get hurt.
Connie Dotson and Mrs. Tippit are also asking for a digital frame for the OVIS. A 8 x 10 frame would be desired.
Lara Macklin, chairperson for the Spring Carnival, gave us an update with the needs and wants for the carnival. Lara has gotten the donation lists from the 2004 and 2007 carnivals. Lara will be making up a donation letter to be sent out. If anyone would like to donate money or items for the Spring Carnival please contact Lara Macklin at Macklin@frontiernet.net. Jennifer Dial said that she would send out a letter asking for volunteers for the April 10th Carnival at the middle school gym. Lara said that Mr. Baker will handle the games that would be played and get together with the other teachers on their ideas as well. Lara also said that she has found old carnival prizes at the OVES stage area. Lara will be ordering more prizes as she sees fit. In past carnivals there were awards given out for the best decorated games booth. Each class would be making there own booth. There were 2 different tickets what were sold, 1 set was for the raffle and the other for games. Idea for getting free game tickets were for good behavior in class that the teachers could give out. There will be a silent auction, raffle, games, and a dinner with salad and dessert. Connie Dotson noticed in past years that some games will need to be roped off from other areas so that people would not be wondering in games areas. Jennifer Bland thought that there might be posts at the middle school ticket booth that would be used to rope off areas.
The slide for the OVIS was discussed and Mrs. Dotson said that she would talk with Tyus Brooks about what prices the student council had and what style of slide.
Lisa Ozier suggested that for our fall fundraiser we should consider doing something different than “Market Day”. Lisa got information on selling citrus fruit from Texas and also knows of a company in Champaign.
Meeting closed at 8:25 pm.
