4th Grade Places 2nd at Regionals
The 4th grade TeamQuest team traveled to Arcola on January 29th to participate in the TeamQuest Regionals and came home with the 2nd place trophy. A member of the team provided a summary of the events and projects they completed during the competition. His description of events will illustrate the demands of the competition.
When we arrived we looked at the store for ten minutes. The first challenge was a music challenge. We had to name songs and answer questions about them. The next challenge was engineering. We had to build a Team Quest Ant that had to be red and able to hold a weighted sandwich. Just before we finished our ant and had it tested, we completed the teamwork challenge in which we had to match as many pictures of animals with their names as we could in one minute. Then we started working on our worksheets. We had to fill in the blanks about bugs and how they survive. When we finished we ate lunch. After lunch we did math. There were 6 questions about a zookeeper and his animals. In the next challenge we were assigned to build cages that could carry stuffed animals with three weights hanging from them. The cages had to be held from chains made from the supplies given, such as paper, wire, and cardboard. For our creative challenge, we had to build a house for the Team Quest Ant. Then we did an additional music challenge about the instruments in the orchestra. Finally we did some trivia about animals. At the end of the day trophies were awarded for places one through five. It was a great day and we placed second! We are now going to Chester for the state finals!!!
Congratulations again, We are PROUD OF YOU!
