Dear Parents and Students:
Okaw Valley High School would like to invite you to attend a Financial Aid Night presentation. It will be held on Monday, February 9, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the Business Lab (Mrs. Wilson’s Room).
The presentation will provide information about resources made available by the State of Illinois and the U.S. Congress. Over 80% of all aid awarded comes from state and federal programs. These programs may take the shape of federal and state grants, federal work-study and/or federal loans. These state and federal financial aid programs are applied for annually, on one application form called the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It may be submitted anytime after January 1, 2009.
Many students may decide to attend college late in their senior year or the summer following. By that time, many financial aid resources are exhausted – APPLY EARLY! Applying for state and federal financial aid is not a commitment to accept any awards offered nor is it a commitment to attend college. This is a beneficial presentation for all students wanting to attend college, whether choosing Lake Land College or another university.
For most students, college costs are an important factor in the college planning process. All college bound students and their parents are encouraged to attend this informative Financial Aid presentation. Information provided could improve the student’s chances of receiving monies for college expenses.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Atchison, Guidance Counselor
