The Mid-Illinois Chapter has openings for Homeland Security Disaster Liaisons to do community disaster education and preparedness presentations in Moultrie and Shelby counties. This is an 8 week temporary Americorps VISTA program over the summer. The pay is around $865 (taxable) dollars a month for two months, with the choice of a $1,000 education award or a $200 cash stipend upon successful completion. Training will be provided and the applicant will have to attend a Pre-Service Orientation on 2 June. The program can start any time after June 2nd, as long as an 8 week commitment is fulfilled. If you know a student who is interested in applying who would like to help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies, please let me know as soon as possible as spaces are filling up and applications have to be in by the end of the month. I am looking for high school graduating seniors who are college bound. Americorp applicants must be 18 years of age. See Mr. Reveal for more information.
